This vintage piece has been fully refurbished, retaining the original glazing, green glass shelves and detailed handles, but with the rather modern addition of after-dark remote controlled lighting. Each glazed cupboard has two curved glass shelves on each side, which are removable, with a green tint running through them. These shelves are original and do have some nicks on the edges. There is plenty of space to display your favourite gin bottles at the bottom of each lockable cupboard. The back of each cupboard has been treated to a layer of metal gold leaf, which beautifully reflects bottles, decanters and crystal glasses. An internal LED light strip has been installed and flows through all three compartments. The control box is hidden from view, but easily accessible, has 8 modes (from constant to disco). The LEDs run on 3 x AA batteries (which are included) and you even get a remote control to use from the comfort of your sofa. After dark, Mr Selleck really comes alive! The lockable bureau has plenty of gold-edged cubby holes to display your cocktail muddlers, strainers and squeezers. The worn writing surface has been removed and replaced with metal gold leaf. Below the bureau is the infamous Selleck’moustache’ and three curved, dovetailed drawers, ideal storage for your napkins, metal straws, cocktail stirrers and recipe books, coasters and corkscrews. This vintage piece came to me in a sorry state and has been a challenge to repair. But I do enjoy a challenge. He has been totally refurbished, stripped back to his bare bones, repaired and reassembled with care. His issues included peeling and missing veneer, crumbling putty, split boards, cracked drawers, encrusted handles and a wonky base, just for starters. I think you’ll agree that he’s been totally transformed. He will serve your cocktails faithfully for many years to come. His body has been hand painted in Coal Black mineral paint. The walnut wood veneer on the bureau lid and drawers needed a lot of work, but the grain is restored again, not perfect but still gorgeous. The original handles, once encrusted with years of dirt, have been cleaned and sprayed a glorious gold, revealing their delicate details. Mr Selleck would make a stunning statement piece in your home. A truly beautiful, totally bespoke piece of furniture and a real conversation starter; elegant by day, but stunning after dark.
